Day 1: Nairobi to Chogoria Town to Chogoria Gate (2,960m)

Your Mount Kenya trekking adventure begins with an early 7:00 AM departure from Nairobi. Enjoy the scenic drive through Kenya’s central highlands to Chogoria Town, the starting point of your trek. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your trekking crew and perform a final gear check to ensure you’re prepared for the hike.

From Chogoria Town, you’ll drive 12km into the lush forest before trekking the last 10km to Chogoria Gate. The trail winds through dense rainforest, home to wildlife like black-and-white colobus monkeys, Sykes’ monkeys, waterbucks, and buffalos. Bird enthusiasts can spot the Hartlaub’s turaco, olive thrush, and African pied wagtail.

After 2-3 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Meru Mount Kenya Bandas, located near Chogoria Gate, where you’ll spend your first night surrounded by the sounds of nature.

Day 2: Chogoria Gate to Lake Ellis (3,350m)

Day 3: Lake Ellis to Lake Michaelson (4,000m)

Day 5: Austrian Hut to Point Lenana (4,985m) to Old Moses Camp (3,300m)

After celebrating your achievement, descend to Shipton’s Camp for breakfast. After a brief rest, continue descending through the scenic Mackinder’s Valley, crossing the Likii North and Ontulili Valleys on your way to Old Moses Camp, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 6: Old Moses Camp to Sirimon Gate (2,650m) to Nairobi
