6 Day Mt Kenya Hikes -Route: Chogoria – Naromoru
Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second-highest in Africa, after Kilimanjaro. The highest peaks of the mountain are Batian (5,199 metres (17,057 ft)), Nelion (5,188 metres (17,021 ft)) and Point Lenana (4,985 metres (16,355 ft)). Mount Kenya is located in the former Eastern and central provinces of Kenya, now Meru, Embu, Laikipia, Kirinyaga, Nyeri and Tharaka Nithi counties, about 16.5 kilometres (10.3 mi) south of the equator, around 150 kilometres (93 mi) north-northeast of the capital Nairobi.

Day 1:Chogoria Town – Chogoria Chogoria Gate 2950m;10km
Its 32km from Chogoria town to Chogoria gate and we drive for 22km of this and walk for the rest 10km to the Meru Mt,Kenya lodge where we spend our first night.

Day 2:Chogoria Gate – Lake Ellis 3400m;8km
Hike from Meru Mt Kenya lodge to the lake Ellis where we also get a chance for fishing and an afternoon hike to Mugi hill 3541m.

Day 3:Lake Ellis – Lake Michealson;9km
From the lake Ellis we head up and then down to the heart of the Gorges valley where we set camp at the lake Michaelson.

Day 4:Lake Michaelson – Austrian Hut 4790m;6km
From lake Michaelson hike from the Gorges valley through the Tooth Col and reach the Austrian hut 4790m for a stay.

Day 5:Austrian Hut-Point Lenana down – Met Station Camp 3300m;16km
With just 1hr to reach point Lenana from Austrian hut we start the hike at about 5:00am to the peak and later back to Ausrian hut for breakfast and then descend to Met Station camp 3300m on the Naromoru route.

Day 6:Met Station – Naromoru Gate;9km
Walk for 9km from the Met Station to Naromoru gate for transport to Naromoru town.
