8 Days Northern Kenya Safari

Day 1. Nairobi-Samburu National Park.

You will leave Nairobi early in the morning and set out for an exclusive adventure in the northern Kenya.

The experience will begin with a safari experience in Samburu National Reserve.

Located in the northern plains of Kenya, the Samburu national reserve is home to dry-country fauna like the Oryx, Reticulated giraffe and the Grevy`s zebra.

Members of the big five animals are also present here as well as the lesser ones and hundreds of bird species too.

Due to its dry condition, the watering points offer guaranteed perfect spots for game watching during the hottest part of the day.

Arriving in the late afternoon, you will have a game drive later in the day towards the evening and afterwards, head to your lodge/camp.

Day 2. Samburu National Reserve.

This will be a day mostly spent on game drives, with some breaks as the temperatures rises high during the day.

Nearby is the Samburu community and you will have an opportunity of visiting their village for some cultural enlightenment.

You will finally go back to your lodge/camp for the night.

Day 3. Samburu-Marsabit

The northern road trip will commence with Marsabit town being the day`s destination.

The drive will take you through the vast arid land with mesmerizing landscape with a magical change once you reach Marsabit, which surprisingly, have a different climate which makes it outstanding for being greener and forested for some part.

An evening tour will be made in the evening for to get to know the area and the people more and later settle at the camp for the night.

Day 4. Marsabit-Kalacha.

The drive will continue from Marsabit to Kalacha, which is located at the northern end of the Chalbi desert.

Once there, you will learn about the Gabbra people who inhabit the area, and have a wonderful stay at your camp with spectacular 360 degrees view of the landscape here.

The bonfires under the starry night sky will give you a relaxing evening before retiring to bed.

Day 5. Kalacha-Loiyangalani

This will be a pure wilderness experience as you drive through the Chalbi desert, which is a stretch of coarse sand spiced by pure rocks.

The tradition way of shelter making and clothing of the Gabbra and the Rendile people found here, will offer a nice blending to serve you the exclusive beauty in what is an almost non trodden route.

With less civilization and human invasion due to its harsh conditions, the region between Kalacha and Loiyangalani will bring history alive, an exposure that will last with you for ages.

You will arrive at Loiyangalani where you will be staying for two nights as you explore the Lake Turkana area.

Day 6. Lake Turkana.

This will be a day spent in several activities, beginning with a cultural visit to an Elmolos village.

The Elmolo is known for being the smallest tribe in Kenya, and their way of survival mainly with dependence to the lake makes them so unique in this modern times.

A boat riding to the lake`s central island will be made later in the day where you have a bird watching opportunity in the world`s largest desert lake.

Swimming will also be enjoyed at the lakes.

Day 7. Loiyangalani-Mararal

You will leave for Mararal town via South Horr and through the gorgeous Suguta valley in Baragoi and again this will be as you experience the amazing landscapes and people throughout this region.

Arriving in Mararal, which is renown as the host town for the famous Camel Derby, camel riding can be done here if time permits and later visit the Samburu people living around this area for more cultural enlightenment.

Day 8. Mararal-Nairobi

Leaving Mararal town in early morning, you will embark for your journey back to Nairobi.

The drive will offer you a game drive experience considering the nature of wildlife roaming freely in this area, with the zebras, giraffes, elephants being some of the animals likely to be spotted.

The drive will be via Nyahururu town, where a stopover will be made for a visit to the Thompson`s fall on the Ewaso nyiro river, which drops a sheer 243ft.

Thereafter you will proceed to Nairobi where the tour ends after what we believe will be a lifetime experience in the less visited northern part of Kenya.
