Day 1: Nairobi to Sirimon Gate to Old Moses Camp (3,300m)

Day 2: Old Moses Camp to Likii North Camp (3,993m)

  • Trek Distance: 7km

Day 3: Likii North Camp to Shipton’s Camp (4,200m)

  • Trek Distance: 10km

Today’s trek leads you up the stunning Likii North Valley and descends into the Mackinder’s Valley, with its dramatic views of the peaks. Along the way, keep an eye out for the Verreaux’s eagle, which often soars above 4,000m in search of its primary prey, the rock hyrax.

As you approach Shipton’s Camp, you’ll encounter rock hyraxes basking on the sunlit rocks or seeking shelter in colder weather. Shipton’s Camp offers a breathtaking panorama of Mount Kenya’s towering peaks, including Batian and Nelion.

Day 4: Shipton’s Camp to Point Lenana (4,985m) and Back to Shipton’s Camp

  • Altitude Gain: +785m (to summit)
  • Altitude Loss: -785m (back to Shipton’s Camp)

Day 5: Shipton’s Camp to Old Moses Camp (3,300m)

  • Trekking Distance: 14 km

After breakfast, begin your descent through the Mackinder Valley, retracing your path back to Old Moses Camp. This 14 km trek offers another chance to appreciate the diverse flora and fauna of Mount Kenya, including tussock grass, lobelias, and possibly even sightings of wildlife like Verreaux’s eagles and rock hyraxes.

Arrive at Old Moses Camp in the afternoon, where you’ll enjoy dinner and overnight accommodations.

Day 6: Old Moses Camp to Sirimon Gate (2,560m) to Nairobi City

  • Trekking Distance: 9 km
  • Altitude Loss: -740m
  • Driving Distance: 195 km (Sirimon Gate to Nairobi)

After breakfast, hike 9 km through the rainforest to Sirimon Gate (2,560m). The descent offers excellent birdwatching opportunities and potential wildlife sightings, including monkeys basking in the morning sun.

At Sirimon Gate, celebrate completing your trek (Congratulations!). Transfer by vehicle to Nairobi, a 195 km drive, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel, marking the end of your Mount Kenya adventure with Ahambi Tours.
